The Grand Junction Fire Department and International Association of Firefighters Local 2808 will kick off their 2014 Fill-The-Boot Campaign to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on August 28th, 30th, 31st and September 1st (Labor Day weekend). Since 1954, MDA has partnered with fire departments from all over the country to bring awareness and support towards fighting neuromuscular diseases. To highlight the 60th Anniversary, firefighters have invited MDA families to come out and collect donations with them this year. Last year, the Grand Junction Fire Department raised over $8,000 in donations, with all the proceeds going to the MDA. The Grand Junction Fire Department and Local 2808 have significantly contributed to the funds raised for MDA year-after-year and this year has a goal of $15,000.

Fire department administration, firefighting personnel, Local 2808 members, and families will be out collecting donations for this great cause at City Market Stores (1st & Rood, 24 Road, Highway 50), Wal-Mart stores (Rimrock & North Avenue), Home Depot and Albertson’s on Broadway.
