The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 329 Teller Ave. Initial dispatch reports stated that the source of the fire was coming from a refrigerator inside the residence. The first unit on scene (Truck 1 in 4 minutes) reports light smoking coming from the front of the residence and the crew was preparing to make entry to extinguish the fire. While crews deployed hoses and prepared equipment to enter, smoke and fire blew out of the west window causing the crews to change fire tactics and work to fight the blaze from the outside in. This is called a transitional attack. Once fire crews obtained initial knock down and control of the fire, they were able to enter the residence and conduct a primary search and complete fire suppression operations. There were no injuries to the public or our firefighters on this incident and fire investigators are on scene conducting an investigation. All fire investigation question will be handled by the Grand Junction Fire Marshal’s Office @ 970-549-5800.
