At approximately 2015 hrs, the Grand Junction Fire Department and the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a call of a person that was climbing the railroad light tower behind 1855 I70B Grand Junction. Initial dispatch reports indicated that the subject may be suicidal and that the subject was approximately 100 feet up in the air. Grand Junction Fire Department’s Rescue 1 Unit responded along with Battalion 1 and Medic 1 to assess the situation. After several attempts to make contact with the subject, the Grand Junction Police Department was able to peacefully and safely talk the subject down from the railroad light tower without further incident. There were no injuries to the subject or emergency personnel on this incident. It was unclear why the subject climbed the light tower or if the subject was under the influence of anything that would impair his judgment. All questions regarding this matter can be directed to the Grand Junction Police Department.
