Units from the Grand Junction Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 1620 Dolores Street. around 01:41 hrs. on 12/11/2105. First arriving units reported A working fire on the detached structure from the main address. The neighbor initially witnessed the fire and was able to call 911.
GJFD crews where able to gain access to the detached structure and knockdown the fire using CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System). The fire area was focused around the stove that was in the involved detached structure.
GJFD fire investigators found that it was possible the stove may have been the source of the fire. The Fire is still under investigation.
Safety Note: Make sure your chimney is clean and clear prior to lighting a fire. A chimney inspection will ensure that your chimney liners are intact and serviceable. This includes wood and pellet stovepipes as well. Also, Make sure your fireplace is professionally installed and preventative maintenance is always done by a professional.
No one was injured during this incident and the property was turned back over to the owner upon GJFD clearing the scene.
