On Scene:  2254 hrs

The Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 2801 Mesa Ave. around 2250 hrs. First unit on scene (Engine 2) reports fire coming from the front window of the address. GJFD crews deployed hand lines for fire attack and units reported the fire extinguished at 2308 hrs. Initial reports stated there were possibly dogs inside the residence. During initial search efforts GJFD personnel found two dogs inside the structure. The dogs were removed from the structure and efforts were made to resuscitate but were unsuccessful and the animals perished.

There were no injuries to GJFD personnel on this incident. The fire is currently under investigation.
