First arriving units reported a working structure fire with heavy smoke and flames coming from the front of the house as well as one patient lying in the street. This house had been vacant for some time and the patient was to believed to have been staying on the premises. The patient was inside the house during the fire and was able to get out on his own through the front window. When the Police Department arrived on scene they assisted the patient in moving away from the house to the street.

GJFD crews quickly deployed two 1 3/4″ hose lines to the exterior of the house to begin extinguishment and containment of the fire. Upon controlling the fire entry was made inside for further extinguishment and a full search, there were no additional occupants found. The fire was contained to mostly the front and west side of the house with major damage throughout the home. The patient found initially on scene was transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
