Units from the Grand Junction Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire at 511 E Columbine Drive. around 20:10 hrs. on 05/26/2016. First arriving units reported a working fire on the homes rear patio. The homeowners were home at the time and were able to call 911.  Homeowners were attempting to extinguish the fire with a garden hose.

GJFD crews quickly deployed an 1 3/4″ hose line to the rear of the home, and were able to quickly extinguish the fire using CAFS (Compressed Air Foam System).  The fire was contained to the patio.  Minor damage to the exterior of the home.  GJFD crew cleared the home and checked for fire extension through out the home, no fire extension found.  No one was injured.  Homeowners evacuated the home and stayed with family and friends that night.

The fire is currently under investigation.

Safety Note: Never hesitate to call 911 if you see a neighbors home on fire. 

Make sure to always check smoke detectors and replace every 10 years.  Change the batteries every 6 months.

No one was injured during this incident and the property was turned back over to the homeowner upon GJFD clearing the scene.
