On Scene: 0422 hrs.

Engine 2 responded to the 2800 block of Texas Avenue on the report of smoke. Checking the area Engine 2 discovered a working structure fire with one bedroom heavily involved.  Engine 2 requested a full structure response and made an initial attack through the bedroom windows.  When additional units arrived on scene Engine 2 and Truck 1 made an interior attack through the front door.  Access to the interior structure was hindered by a large number of personal items being stored inside the home.

The single occupant was uninjured.  After an extensive search of the residence a pet cat remained unaccounted for.  The fire was out at 4:29 AM, with overhaul requiring a significant amount of time due to the large number of personal items inside the home.  The GJPD provided traffic control and assisted with securing the scene.  The fire is still under investigation.

Safety Note: The GJFD would like to remind you to keep your home and businesses free of debris, and ensure that all entrances and exits are freely accessible without obstruction.
