Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a structure fire early this morning at a single family home on the 2000 block of Cheyenne Drive.
Upon arriving at the scene at 04:50 fire crews found that all three people in the family, along with their two dogs, had safely evacuated the home. It was determined that smoke and flames were coming from a room at the rear of the house. Crews worked swiftly to put out the fire, and by 05:03 the fire was completely suppressed. While everyone was safe, the family is displaced from their home and damages are estimated at around $15,000.
Overall, four fire stations responded to the call with 22 personnel including firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics. The Western Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family with their recovery needs.
