Structure Fire on the 1700 Block of Orchard Avenue

At 12:56 the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to the 1700 block of Orchard Avenue for a fire reported by the occupant of the home.  The occupant transported two dogs from the residence for medical attention due to smoke inhalation.  The fire was quickly extinguished without additional injuries.  The home suffered extensive smoke damage, the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Grand Junction Fire Department would like to remind the public that smoke detectors and emergency evacuation plans save lives. Check your detectors twice a year and practice your emergency exit plan with your family on a regular basis.
