GJFD Responds to Brush Fire along HWY 6 and 50

At 14:42 Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a brush fire on the south side of HWY 6 and 50 in the area of 23 Road.  The fire, which covered approximately  1/4 acre,was quickly extinguished and was contained to dry weeds along the roadside.  The Grand Junction Fire Department responded with a ladder truck, two engines, and a brush truck.

The Grand Junction Fire Department would like to remind the public that dry brush and windy conditions can quickly turn a recreational fire into a brush fire.  Be aware of weather conditions and keep a method of extinguishment nearby.
