GJFD Responds to Commercial Structure Fire

At 22:45 the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire at Alpine Custom Doors at 2842 Chipeta Ave.  Initial reports indicated that items on the exterior of the building were on fire.  When GJFD arrived on scene it was determined that flames had reached the interior of the building and GJFD made entry to extinguish the fire.  The building was equipped with a sprinkler system that was activated during fire.  The structure was unoccupied at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. The cost of damages is unknown; the cause of the fire is under investigation. GJFD responded with Engine 1, 2, 4, 5, Ambulance 2, 6, and Battalion 1.

The Grand Junction Fire Department would like to remind the community that dangerous fire conditions exist, and can cause fire to spread rapidly.  In these conditions avoid working with machinery outdoors, discarding cigarette butts outside of designated containers, or driving with unsecured chains. During Red Flag Warnings all burning is prohibited. For more information on this incident contact the Community Outreach office at gjfirepio@gjcity.org.
