At 0710 the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 500 block of 28 1/2 Road. Two residents in the home heard a loud bang followed by smoke alarms before discovering flames in the attached garage. The two occupants had evacuated when the first crew arrived at 0715. The fire was extinguished by 0720 and crews began searching the structure looking for any remaining hot spots.
No one was injured in the fire. The home and two vehicles parked in front were damaged by the fire. The dollar amount of damage is unknown. Origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
Three engines responded along with two ambulances, a medical officer, and a Battalion Chief. The Grand Junction Police Department responded to assist with scene control. The American Red Cross and a GJPD Victim Advocate responded to assist those displaced by the fire.
