At 1356 the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 1300 block of N 23rd Street. The single occupant returned home and saw smoke coming from the roof. Engine 2 was the first unit on scene at 1402. Smoke and flames could be seen coming from the attic of the home. The fire was extinguished by 1430 and crews began searching the structure looking for any remaining hot spots. The home was equipped with working smoke alarms.
No one was injured in the fire. The dollar amount of damage is unknown. Origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
Two engines and a ladder truck responded along with an ambulance, a medical officer, and a Battalion Chief. The Grand Junction Police Department, and volunteers from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with scene control.
