At 1058 the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to the 2400 Block of Blue Heron Rd. for reports of a ruptured gas line. Excel Energy was also notified at that time and responded to the scene to repair the line. When crews arrived on scene they discovered a two inch gas line that was ruptured. A nearby business was evacuated for safety. GJFD was responsible for scene safety including air monitoring, evacuations, and preparing fire supression systems (which were not needed.) No one was hurt.

One engine, one truck, a Battallion Chief, and an ambulance responded to the scene. After the line was repaired, the air in the evacuated building was checked for safety and employees were allowed to resume work as normal around 1249.
