GJFD Contains Brush Fire

At 1742 The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a brush fire near REI. When crews arrived on scene they found a brush fire that had spread to a large dead cottonwood tree at West Lake State Wildlife Area between REI and the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Office. No one was hurt and the fire was not threatening any buildings. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire and prevent it from damaging nearby power lines.

One truck, a brush truck, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire. GJPD also responded to assist with scene security and to search the area for any people that may have been affected by the fire.
