GJFD Responds to Brushfire near 5th St Railroad Bridge

At 1808 the Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a small brushfire near the South side of the 5th Street railroad bridge. Batallion 1 was the first unit on scene and described a fire approximatley 30 feet wide on a hillside in the area known as The Point. No structures were damaged or threatened, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire was out by 1828.

One engine, a brush truck, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire. GJPD also responded to assist with scene security. The Union Pacific Railroad delayed trains traveling through the area for approximately a half hour.
