GJFD Responds to Structure Fire at Commercial Building

At 2039 the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a structure fire in a commercial building on the 2400 block of Industrial Boulevard. The owner of a business at the address was alerted to the fire by a passerby who saw flames coming from the roof, and was able to safely evacuate. The first GJFD unit arrived at 2045 and verified that smoke and flames were coming from the roof of the building. As additional units arrived safety concerns prevented firefighters from entering the building. GJFD began a defensive operation spraying water through open windows and doorways. The fire was out by 2207. Fire fighters were then able to enter the building to search for any remaining hotspots. There are no known injuries and the amount of property damaged is unknown. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation.

Four engines, one ladder truck, one ambulance, a medical officer, a Battalion Chief,, and Command Team Chief responded to the scene. The Grand Junction Police Department responded to assist with scene safety. There are no known injuries and the amount of property damaged is unknown.
