At 10:53 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a Motorhome fire on the 300 block of 29 5/8 Road. The first GJFD unit arrived at 11:01 PM and found a fully engulfed motorhome. Several other vehicles in the area were threatened by the fire. Responding GJFD vehicles had difficulty accessing the fire from a narrow dirt road, and there were no fire hydrants to supply additional water. Fire crews set up a relay between fire trucks to share available water and requested Water Tender 5 to respond to the location. The fire was out at 11:10 PM and additional units were cancelled. There are no known injuries, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Medic 1, Ambulance 2, and Battalion 1. The Mesa County Sheriff’s responded to assist with scene safety and traffic control.
