GJFD Responds to Structure Fire on Belford Avenue

IMG_9142At 12:48 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 900 block of Belford Avenue. The 9-1-1 caller indicated that there was  heavy smoke and flames coming from the address and that a male was attempting to put out the fire with a garden hose. The first fire units on scene determined that the home was empty and fully involved. GJFD set up a defensive attack from the exterior of the structure and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby homes. The majority of the fire was quickly extinguished and fire crews continued to work inside the building to eliminate hot spots and to douse flames hiding in the attic space. The last GJFD unit was able to leave the address at 3:51 PM.  There are no known injuries, the origin and cause of the fire is under investigation. Five adults were displaced by the fire.

GJFD responded with Truck 3, Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 4,  Ambulance 1, Ambulance 6, Medic 1, and Battalion 1. The Grand Junction Police Department responded to assist with scene safety and traffic control. The American Red Cross, and a Grand Junction Police Department Victim Advocate responded to assist those displaced by the fire.
