GJFD Responds to Fire on 28 1/4 Rd.

IMG_9442At 2:09 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on the 500 block of 28 1/4 Road. The 9-1-1 caller indicated that there was  heavy smoke coming from the address and that a several people could be seen running around the home. It was not known if anyone was inside the home. The first fire units on scene determined that the home was empty and fully involved. With resources already dedicated to a previous home fire, assistance was requested from the Clifton Fire Protection District. GJFD entered the home through the front and back doors to extinguish the flames. The last GJFD unit was able to leave the address at 4:40 PM.  The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation. Two adults were displaced, and one dog died as a result of the fire.

GJFD responded with Truck 3, Engine 2, Engine 5, Engine 4,  Ambulance 3, Ambulance 7,  Battalion 1, and Grand Junction Fire Command Chiefs.  The Clifton Fire Protection District responded with Engine 21. The Grand Junction Police Department responded to assist with scene safety and traffic control. The American Red Cross, and a Grand Junction Police Department Victim Advocate responded to assist those displaced by the fire.
