GJFD Responds to Home Fire

At 3:31 AM The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a home on fire in the 500 block of 4th St. When crews arrived on scene they saw active flames and smoke coming from the home. All of the residents had evacuated and one person was transported to a local hospital. Crews were able to make entry into the home and quickly extinguish the fire. Residents said that their dogs had alerted them to the fire and were unaccounted for. While searching the home crews discovered that the two dogs had perished in the fire. Three adults and two kids were displaced with significant damage to the home.

GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 3, Engine 4, Engine 5, Ambulance 7, Ambulance 1, Ambulance 3, a Battalion Chief, and a Medical Officer. Grand Junction Police Department responded to assist with traffic control. A victim advocate with GJPD, American Red Cross, and Mesa County Animal Control also responded to provide assistance to the family. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
