At 10:29 PM a passerby returning home from JUCO spotted a fast growing fire in the backyard of a home on the 1800 block of N 26th Street. When crews arrived on scene, smoke and flames were coming from a backyard garage and threatened to spread to the nearby home.  Firefighters were able to quickly get water on the fire and extinguish the blaze. Crews conducted a search of the home to confirm that no active fire was present, and used a fan to remove smoke. There are no known injuries. Two adults were displaced from the home. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.

GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Truck 3,  Engine 4, Ambulance 2, a Medical Officer, and a Battalion Chief. Grand Junction Police Department responded and assisted with traffic control. A GJPD volunteer Victim Advocate responded to help the individuals displaced by the fire.
