AT 10:01 AM the Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched to a brush fire at Connected Lakes west of the boat ramp. The first crews on scene found a working fire in an area less than one acre. GJFD used a float pump to draw water directly from the lakes and requested a water tender to respond. Crews are still in the area putting out hot spots and ensuring the fire does not reignite. There are no known injuries. The Mesa County Sheriff’s office determined that the fire was human caused. The incident is currently under investigation.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Brush 4, Brush 5, Water Tender 5, and a Battalion Chief. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to investigate the incident and to control access to the area.
