At 2:42 PM the Grand Junction Fire department was dispatched to a structure fire on the 1400 block of Pinyon Avenue. The first unit arrived at 2:46 PM and reported that the rear of the house and an external shed was engulfed in flames. The 360-degree assessment of the fire could not be completed due to damaged power lines that were sparking on the south side of the home. Firefighters entered the structure and extinguished flames in a back bedroom while crews put out the fire on the outside of the home. The fire was out by 2:55 PM. One adult was transported to the hospital.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Ambulance 2, Ambulance 3, Medic 1, and Battalion 1. Xcel energy responded to deal with damaged power lines. The American Red Cross responded to assist one adult displaced by the fire.
