GJFD Responds to Chimney Fire

At 6:28 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a report of a residential fire on the 2400 block of I Road. The first unit arrived at 6:42 PM and found a working fire in the chimney and adjoining attic space. The fire was out by 7:11 PM and crews worked to eliminate hot spots and ensure that the fire would not rekindle. One adult required medical attention. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 5, Tender 5, Ambulance 1, Ambulance 3, and Battalion 1. The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, and Colorado State Patrol responded to assist with traffic control.
