GJFD Extinguishes Attic Fire

At 12:53 PM The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a home fire in the 1500 block of Sunset Drive. When crews arrived on scene they found light smoke coming from the attic of a home. Crews used a thermal imaging camera to locate the fire. They then had to cut holes in the side of the home to access and extinguish the fire which had worked its way between two walls. The fire was quickly extinguished, and there are no reported injuries. However, the home sustained significant damage leaving one adult and a dog displaced.GJFD responded with truck 1, engine 2, truck 3, engine 5, ambulance 1, and a Battalion Chief. Red Cross responded to assist the displaced adult with their immediate needs.
