At 2:26 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a mobile home on fire in the area of Orchard Avenue and 29 ½ Road. Neighbors called to report a home on fire with smoke and flames seen from their residence. When crews arrived they found a mobile home fully involved with heavy smoke and flames seen. Fire activity was so intense the crews had to initially fight fire from the outside of the home. Nobody was inside the home at the time of the fire. Two dogs were found safe in the back yard. One dog perished in the fire. No people were injured but two adults have been displaced because of the extensive damage to the home.
GJFD responded with truck 1, engine 2, truck 3, engine 4, engine 5, ambulance 2, a Battalion Chief, and a Deputy Chief. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control and scene safety. Mesa County Animal Services responded for animal safety and containment. Victim Advocates and the American Red Cross assisted the two displaced adults.
