At 7:51 AM The Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire in the 1300 block of Main Street. Initial dispatch reports a back porch on fire with smoke and flames seen. Upon arrival units found a single family home with smoke and flames on the back side of the residence with smoke coming from inside. Truck 1 arrived on scene to find fire activity diminished. Fire crews went interior for reports of 1 person and multiple animals inside the home. Interior searches found that all parties were out and 1 dog inside without injury. Fire was under control and extinguished without incident at 8:04 AM. All parties and animals were accounted for, with one party with minor injuries not requiring transport to the hospital. Residence sustained damage to the back porch with electrical involvement.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Truck 3, Engine 4, Ambulance 7 and a Battalion Chief, Grand Junction Police Department assisted with traffic control and scene safety. Two adults and three dogs are safe and will not be displaced.
