At 4:03 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a patient that had fallen near Serpents Trail. The patient was hiking with friends before falling an unknown distance. Crews were able to reach the hiker quickly and provide immediate care. The patient was carefully moved over rough terrain before being transported by St. Mary’s Careflight.
GJFD responded with Ambulance 1, Truck 1, and a Battalion Chief. Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Colorado National Monument Rangers assisted with locating the patient, and resources required to extricate. Mesa County Search and Rescue also responded to assist. St. Mary’s Careflight responded for the final extrication of the patient.
