At 5:59 PM the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire on the 600 block of Hudsons Bay Drive. Initial reports indicated that heavy smoke and flames were coming from the garage at the address and one occupant was still inside attempting to evacuate pets. At 6:35 PM the fire was under control and crews were able to venture inside the structure to fully extinguish the fire and look for any flames extending into the walls of the home. Three adults were displaced by the fire. One GJFD Firefighter was transported for evaluation. Two pet cats are currently missing. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
GJFD responded with Truck 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Engine 4, Ambulance 2, Ambulance 6, and Battalion 1. The Grand Junction Police Department, and Mesa County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control and scene safety.
