Grand Junction Fire Department Launches New, User-Friendly Website

Today the City of Grand Junction officially launched a new website, www.gjcity.org in collaboration with CivicPlus, the website designer. As part of this redesign, the Grand Junction Fire Department is excited to announce a Fire Department specific section of the website which can be found at www.gjcity.org/fire.  

The new, service-focused website is mobile-friendly and makes accessibility a priority. The site can be translated into any language with a “translation feature”, allowing the City to communicate with residents of all languages. The website is also ADA compliant. “We are a leader in innovation and technology. It is imperative that our residents and visitors are able to easily access the information they need, and this website helps better facilitate that process,” said City Manager Greg Caton. 

“In the current environment, this couldn’t have come at a better time. We want to partner with the community for public safety and the new website makes the connection with GJFD fast, easy, and inclusive to the needs of our community,” said Fire Chief Ken Watkins. 

The new City-wide website has a host of interactive features, including the following: 

  • Notify Me: allows users to sign-up to be notified via email or text messages of emergencies, road closures, special events, agenda postings, and City project updates 
  • Form Center: allows users to submit requests and forms, such as Special Event Permit Applications, Sales Tax Remittance Forms, and Planning Clearance applications 
  • Citizen Help Center: allows users to report non-emergent concerns 

The new website also features a revised communications platform called NewsFlash, which will provide the community with opportunities for users to read press releases and news happening at the Grand Junction Fire Department and throughout the City. If you already subscribe to the Grand Junction Fire Department’s current blog at GJFDnews.org, you will automatically be subscribed to this new platform. Beginning November 18th, the community and media will no longer receive notifications about news regarding the Grand Junction Fire Department through GJFDnews.org, but instead can expect to see news notifications in your email from listserv@civicplus.com.
